The provision
Should brother and sisters of the full blood survive together with brothers and sisters of the half blood, the former shall be entitled to a share double that of the latter. (949)

Where brothers and sisters of the full blood survive together with brothers and sisters of the half blood, each full-blood sibling takes twice the share of each half-blood sibling. The rule applies only when the two classes concur; Article 1004 provides that where only full-blood brothers and sisters survive they inherit in equal shares. Article 1005 governs the related situation in which brothers and sisters concur with nephews and nieces, the former inheriting per capita and the latter per stirpes.
