The provision
Except when the management was assumed to save property or business from imminent danger, the officious manager shall be liable for fortuitous events: (1) If he is manifestly unfit to carry on the management; (2) If by his intervention he prevented a more competent person from taking up the management. Someone who voluntarily takes over managing another's property or affairs (an officious manager) is normally not answerable for losses caused by fortuitous events, but becomes liable for them in two situations: if he was plainly unfit to run the affair, or if his stepping in kept a more capable person from taking charge. This liability does not apply when he took over specifically to save the property or business from imminent danger.
