The provision
When a person gives to another a thing or right on account of the latter's merits or of the services rendered by him to the donor, provided they do not constitute a demandable debt, or when the gift imposes upon the donee a burden which is less than the value of the thing given, there is also a donation. (619)
Intellegal Wiki · In plain terms
A transfer still counts as a donation when a person gives another a thing or right because of that person's merits or past services, provided those services are not an enforceable debt, or when the gift comes with a burden worth less than the thing given. In these cases the law treats the transfer as a donation despite the underlying reason or condition.
