The provision

The courts may appoint a guardian of the child's property or a guardian ad litem when the best interests of the child so requires. (317)

Intellegal Wiki · In plain terms

Courts are authorized to appoint a guardian over a child's property, or a guardian ad litem to represent the child in a case, whenever doing so is needed to protect the child's best interests. This lets a judge safeguard a minor's property and legal standing when circumstances require independent oversight.
