Summary

Two consolidated petitions arising from a 1983 lease agreement where Florencia Huibonhoa leased three commercial lots from the Gojocco siblings to construct a building. When Huibonhoa failed to pay rentals after construction delays allegedly caused by the Aquino assassination's economic impact, she filed for contract reformation while the lessors filed for ejectment. The Supreme Court rejected reformation, finding insufficient proof that the contract failed to express the parties' true intentions and that the Aquino assassination did not constitute extraordinary inflation justifying contract modification. However, the Court ruled the Metropolitan Trial Court had proper jurisdiction over the ejectment case, setting aside the Court of Appeals' dismissal and ordering Huibonhoa's eviction from the properties owned by two of the three lessors who had not entered into separate agreements with her.
